Students will be placed in a command role, running a simulated operation to further piece together all that is covered in this class.
Walk-Up/Tenement Fires
This class covers the operational concerns involved with these type structures. Students will discuss strategies and tactics, building construction and the hazards that can be encountered. Students will be placed in a command role, running a simulated operation to further piece together all that is covered in this class.
Vacant Building Fires
This class covers the operational concerns involved with these type structures. Students will discuss strategies and tactics, building construction and the hazards that can be encountered. Students will be placed in a command role, running a simulated operation to further piece together all that is covered in this class.
Rescue Company Operations in the Fire Service
This class was designed as an inside look at the duties of the heavy rescue company. All aspects will be covered including fire ground duties, operating at technical rescue incidents and the equipment carried.
Thinking Outside the Box
This class was developed to train students to overcome problems encountered on the fire ground and/or emergency scene. Students are forced to figure out solutions in an alloted amount of time working as individuals and as a team.
Rigging for Confined Space
This class covers the rigging aspect of a confined space operation. Rigging scenarios from basic to advanced will be covered. Confined Space Awareness and Operations is a prerequisite for this class.
Confined Space Awareness
This NJSP certified class is the entry level class in the world of confined space. This class teaches the students to identify what a confined space is and the hazards associated with it. This program also covers gas metering, ventilations, permits and rope skills.
Confined Space Operations
This NJSP certified class is the second part of the state's confined space program. The course begins with a review of what is covered in the awareness portion (above) but now gets into personnel roles, rope systems and entries into a confined space, both horizontal and vertical.
Are You Mechanically Advantaged?
This class is an introduction to rope systems. Students will learn the benefits of building rope systems and learn about the hardware and software associated with them. Systems that will be covered are as follows: 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 6:1, 8:1. (Other systems can be added based on class size and time.)
Basic Rope Skills for the First Responder
If you have rope on your rig this is the class for you. There are many applications for rope, basic ones at that. Learn how you can make operations easier just by using rope and a few good knots. (Great introduction class to precede any rope rescue classes)
Rope Rescue Level 1&2
This class covers the skills involved with repelling, lowering, ascending, and pick-off techniques. Students will also learn how to construct anchor and belay systems, mechanical advantage systems and tensioned line systems.
Heavy Lifting and Moving
This class covers the skills associated with lifting and moving heavy objects. Students will use high pressure air bags, pinch bars, fulcrum's and levers, hydraulic tools and rope to move and lift cars, concrete and steel.
Wilderness Rope Rescue
Train in the skills needed to perform rope rescues in rural areas. Learn how to create anchor systems utilizing what mother nature has given you. Training will be given on patient packaging, belay systems and incident command roles.
Mass Area Search Operations
Train on the skills necessary to perform search operations safely and effectively in large structures.
Building Collapse: The Hazards We Face
An overview of the collapse hazards associated in the structures we see on a daily basis.
Five Classes, One Enemy
This class takes a look at the collapse hazards we face in the five classes of construction. The "sixth" class (hybrids) is also covered.
Emergency Building Shoring 1 (Lecture)
This class is an intro class in the two part building shoring series. This is the how, why and when to do things class. Types of shoring, shoring specs, load displacement and shoring concepts will all be covered.
Emergency Building Shoring 2 (Hands On)
This is the follow-up class in the building shoring series. Skill stations (shoring construction) and tool labs are involved in this class.
MVX Awareness for the First Responder
A look at the hazards first responders will face once on scene. This class also provides students a greater understanding of what's involved in these operations.
MVX Operations for the EMS Responder
This class focuses on patient care once on scene. And overview of MVX will give EMS a greater understanding of the hazards they will face, as well as a basis knowledge of extrication techniques.
MVX 1
Students will the basics in extrication. (vehicle stabilization, scene size-up, hazard assessment, door pops, door removal, roof removal, and the dash push)
MVX 2
The follow-up class to MVX 1. In this class students will perform 3rd door conversions, full side removal, high dash push, as well as a review of the skills learned in MVX 1. This class ends with a scenario drill.
Trench Rescue (Lecture)
Students will learn the concepts and hazards behind Trench Rescue. Topics to be covered are, scene size-up, shoring operations, soil conditions, medical consideration's, tools used, and types of trench's.
SCBA (Put Your Skills To The Test)
Students will be challenged to overcome entanglement hazards, low profile maneuvers, and RIT team operations. Weather your a rookie or a seasoned veteran this class will prove to be well worth your time.
RIT Team Awareness/Operations (State Program)
Students will learn the duties and importance of a RIT or FAST team. Challenging fire-ground scenarios will be conducted.
Swift-Water Awareness
Students will learn the risks and dangers associated with these emergencies. Topics also covered are, how to properly don a personal flotation device, activation of the emergency response system, scene safety, and data gathering. If your response area is near water or flooding is a concern, this class is a must have.
Swift-Water Operations
This is a follow-up course to the Swift-Water Awareness course. In this course you will learn hazard recognition, equipment use, and techniques necessary to participate in a technical rescue incident. This level can involve search, rescue, and recovery operations.
